Modern day ‘Hukuru Miskih’ in Ha. Uligan

Ha. Uligan mosque ‘ Masjid Moosa Ali’ named after late Moosa Ali (Ali Fulhu Thuthu) is a donation to the locals of Uligan by Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation (AFTF). The project initially started in November 2010 and was completed during July 2012. The design concept was inspired by the famous and historic Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskih) and Minaret (Munnaaru) of capital city Male’. Gedor Consulting and Rasheed Carpentry n Constructions’ (RCnC) work achieved this inspiration admirably.

The mosque was officially opened on the 12th of July 2012 for Asuru prayers by the chief guest, Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. President of Adhaalath party Sheikh Imran Ali led the Asuru prayers. Minister of Defense and National Security Mr. Mohamed Nazim along with invitees from HA. Atoll councils, including island councilors, heads of island offices and media reporters also participated in the grand opening ceremony.  In his speech, chief guest noted that this is the only mosque which is most striking, most pleasing and culture- based  among the many mosques’ in Maldives till date.  Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar from the foundation extended his heartfelt gratitude to the locals of the island in accepting this donation.
