Supporting the noble cause of Journey

Our foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Journey on 22nd January 2013to support the services provided by their Drop-In Center, as a one year project. Looking into the presentation and proposition of all the activities of Journey, the Executive Committee of AFTF felt that it is important to encourage, support this cause in particular since the local need for services in this field is escalating with every day.Based on the current social issues faced by the community AFTF decided to provide support to Journey in the component where AFTF assistance is most needed. Journey proposed for support for the activities conducted by the Drop-In center.

Journey came into existence on the 29th of November 2005, ever since; they have been committed to provide services to the entire Maldives from the most southern atoll. During the past seven years they have provided help and support to, the most ignored ridiculed and stigmatized group in the Maldives; ‘The substance users’. In their cause of help and support to the community they are following international guidelines, promoting the notion that drug addiction is a disease and it is treatable with the help and support of the community.

The Drop-In Center gives a safe environment for the recovering community, where they could spend their time productively without getting stigmatized or discriminated.
We are thankful to Journey for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this noble cause. We wish u all the success in your future endeavors!
