Annual Quran Competition, Ha. Ihavandhoo

Every year, Club Pole Star, an NGO working towards the community development of the Haa Alif Ihavandhoo hosts a Quran Competition during the month of Ramadan. For 11th year of this competition, we are delighted to have donated the prizes of the competition. 2011 – A Brief Summary

Contrary to 2009 and 2010 whereby AFTF concentrated solely on “Youth Opportunities”, in 2011 AFTF’s scope was broadened to cover wider ranging community beneficial projects. These Project Areas were defined based on the fact that though the Proposals for 2009 and 2010 were geared towards Youth, the majority of the project proposals could be attributed to one of the above project areas. 2010 – A Brief Summary

In 2010, the theme Youth Opportunities was continued in Gaafu Alifu (GA) and Gaafu Dhaalu (Gdh) Atoll from January to March. Based on 2009 experience, 2010 program focused on 4 main areas. These include Sports, trainings/Courses, Multimedia/Equipment and Construction materials. In addition to this, AFTF also supported the Roofing of the Pre-school in Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo as a pilot project. Including this project altogether AFTF funded 50 projects in 17 islands amounting materials donated to a value of USD 152,964.41.

Ha. Uligan mosque ‘ Masjid Moosa Ali’ named after late Moosa Ali (Ali Fulhu Thuthu) is a donation to the locals of Uligan by Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation (AFTF). The project initially started in November 2010 and was completed during July 2012. The design concept was inspired by the famous and historic Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskih) and Minaret (Munnaaru) of capital city Male’.
